About Khajjiar , Dalhousie 

Khajjiar is a hill station located in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. it is located approx 24 km away from Dalhousie. Along with the beautiful snowy peaks, splendid green hills, deep valleys, dense forests and beautiful hill stations, that's why Khajjiar is considered as "mini Switzerland of India". This is one of the famous spot for noiseless enviornment among travellers and tourists. 

Best season to visit 


One can visit Khajjiar, Dalhousie throughout the year. The dense big trees and mountain views consist a natural beauty of Khajjiar, and beautiful climate increase the effect. If one wants to experience snowfall then they can visit months of winter January and february beacuase in these months Khajjiar receives  snowfall. If you love snow then winter is perfect for you.   The road of  Khajjiar covered with snow and trip could be spoil if there is heavy snowfall. The summer (april-june) temperature is mild and warm and pleasant makes good season to visit. Khajjiar becomes very beautiful during monsoon (july-september). During this time you can witness the Khajjiar full glory. 

How to reach

Pathankot railway station is the nearest railhead to Dalhousie which is 82 km away from Dalhousie. from station you can easily get buses and taxis to  reach Dalhousie to Khajjiar . The closest airport to Dalhousie is Gaggal airport in Dharamshala at a distance of 122 km. Flights from Chandigarh, Delhi and Kullu operates to Gaggal airport.

Khajjiar offers you a lots of food joints and restaurants that offers you variety of cuisines like chowmein of chinese, momos of Tibetian , fare of Kashmiri and idlis of South Indian. There is lots of of eating places where the tourists can go for their meals. Some of the famous places are Moti Mahal, The Preet Palace and Kawlity.  Cafe Dalhousie is also a best picks for snacks, south Indian dishes and for hot cup of tea and coffee.

Khajjiar Lake 


Khajjiar lake is located in Khajjiar , district of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The lake is situated at the height of 1920 metres above the sea level and witness lots of tourists. This lake is popular tourist spot. Khajjiar is most eye-catching lake surrounded by cedar forest. Here, people can enjoy various recreational activites and beauty of landscapes. The lake is like paradise which makes one feels like there is no place like this. the stunning landscapes and with gleaming lake, makes must visit place in Khajjiar. 

Khajji Nag Temple



 Khajji Nag Temple is located at the middle of the famous ground at Khajjiar. This temple is dedicated to Snake God. It has a wooden structure with carvings. Tourists pay respect to this temple of Nag Devta. The entire area is heaven on earth. The temple is made up of sandalwood and other woods. This temple is very old with mythological importance. People can also spend time here. 

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary


It is one of the most immaculate destination in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh and known for lush green surroundings and snow capped Himalayan peaks. It is located approx 12 kms from Dalhousie and can easily be reached by trekking. The tourist come here with family and friends and witness the amazing landscape and majestic mountain in its surroundings. It has a variety of animal species like bear, leopard, jackal, and langur, and various bird species. 

Lord Shiva Statue, Khajjiar 


It is located in Khajjiar at Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the tallest 108 ft Lord Shiva Statue. It is just 1 hr travel distance from Dalhousie and is frequented by travellers. One can witness very beautiful views all around . One must visit this place while going to Khajjiar. In the backdrop there is huge mountain range make the view more mesmerizing. One can see the glimpse of Mani Mahesh Peak in a clear day. 

Panchpula 

     
This place is surrounded by dense, tall deodar and green pines trees. Panchpula is popular picnic spot in Dalhousie. It is located at a distance of 3.5 km from Gandhi Chowk Dalhousie. The well known Saptdhara Waterfall is located in Panchpula at the starting point of Ganji Pahari trek. People can do various activities here like Zipling , Burma bridge.  

Dainkund peak    


 I visited Dainkund peak in Dalhousie during my trip . It's about 1.5 km trekking distance it was a good experience. It is one of the most visited place in Dalhousie. It is the highest peak and receives maximum snowfall during the winter season. The view of Khajjiar lake from Dainkund peak is something every photographer wishes to capture. It gives 360° view of entire valley and gives superb picture of the lush green trees and mountains. People mostly do trekking activities here but one can also come here to enjoy peaceful and calm surroundings. 

Barah Patthar, Bakrota hills



Bakrota hills located in outskirts of Dalhousie. A walk in these hills, surrounded by thick forests of Deodar can be really refreshing, especially after a long travel. From here, you can also see the glimpse of Peer Panjal Mountain depending on the weather. One can find a mesmerizing view and landscapes. During snowfall the magnificent Bakrota hills glitter like diamond. Spending time here can gives a peaceful relaxation.
